You can have a CLEAN BBQ Sauce now! (no more dirty meat)

Warm days spent outside chasing rays of sunshine and drinking ice tea--ahh, summer. The smell of the grill cooking up your favorite BBQ treats is something to look forward to--unless you are eating clean. Have you seen the calories in those BBQ sauces? WOW! Sugar laden empty calories just to add a different flavor to your meal is ridiculous. Granted when you look at the portion size they seem like a low affordable number but who do you know who measures out 1 tablespoon of sauce onto their grilled chicken? So-let Squeaky Gourmet share with you the Sweet and Tangy BBQ sauce which you can slather onto your chicken without it laying fat layers to your ribs!

Sweet Apricot BBQ Sauce
serves approximately 20
1/2 cup dried apricots
1/2 cup water
3 raw garlic cloves diced
2 tbls soy sauce
2 tbls dark molasses
1 tsp dried cumin
1 tsp liquid smoke

In a sauce pan combine apricots, water and molasses cooking on medium heat for about 10 minutes. (apricots should be very tender) In a blender blend raw garlic with the liquid smoke, soy sauce and cumin. Slowly add in cooled apricot mix and blend on high speed until it becomes the consistency you like for BBQ sauce. Brush over grilled meat and serve.

  1. I've TOTALLY gotten to the point of making my own sauces because the store bought ones are all based on corn syrup! This recipe looks tasty! I'm totally going to try it.

  2. This looks great! I am allergic to mustard and I have a devil of a time trying to find BBQ sauce recipes without it. THANKS!
